Chinese Red Jujube
Often regarded as the "woman's friend" jujube has been long used for nourishing blood (post menstruation and giving birth, or after surgery). Women often drink jujube tea to ease menopausal discomforts.
Jujube (Ziziphus jujube) has long been used in Chinese and Korean traditional medicine. The fruit, being mucilaginous, is soothing to the throat and decoctions of jujube have often been used in pharmacy to treat sore throats and shortness of breath. It is also used to relieve arthritic complaints and relax a tense body, soothing to the mind to have a good night's sleep. It has a faint sweet date taste and can be sweetened with honey if desired. Nice mellow cuppa. Softened fruit from the brew are yummy to eat.
